Limpopo police have launched an urgent appeal for information after 61-year-old Dr Rega Mohammed Tavangar went missing in Mokopane. The doctor, who works at Mokopane Hospital, was last seen by his partner and has not been contactable since.
Last confirmed movements
According to a police statement, Tavangar was seen dropping his partner off at her rented room in Voortrekker Street, Mokopane, at about 6 pm. He was reportedly travelling in a white Landwind motor vehicle with registration number KV3VM GP and was wearing grey jeans, black sandals and a brown shirt at the time.
Attempts to contact and hospital enquiry
Police say Tavangar’s cellphones are reportedly switched off and that no contact has been received from him since the evening he was last seen. The provincial police spokesperson, Sergeant Maphure Manamela, said Tavangar’s partner received a payment from him at about midnight on August 28, and that at around 6 am she contacted him about a wallet she thought she had left in his vehicle.
Manamela said Tavangar told her he would send the wallet with her daughter, who is staying with him at the Mokopane Hospital Residence. Police said there was no further communication from Tavangar after that.
On September 3, Mokopane Hospital reportedly made enquiries about Tavangar’s whereabouts after he failed to report for duty.
