The nation is mourning the loss of jazz legend Gloria Bosman, who passed away on Tuesday at 50 following a short illness. As reported by Eye Witness News, the Bosman family has confirmed that a memorial service will be held on Friday to celebrate her illustrious career. Bosman, a smooth-voiced South African jazz musician, significantly contributed to the country’s music industry during her career spanning over two decades, earning her multiple awards.

Industry colleagues, family, and close friends have already paid their respects at her home in Pimville, Soweto. Family spokesperson Titi Luzipo expressed her sorrow at losing “a pioneer, a global icon, a mother, a friend, and a great colleague.” Meanwhile, Arts and Culture Minister Zizi Kodwa shared his condolences and acknowledged the nation’s loss of a “beautiful voice.”

UPDATE:
The family have scheduled Bosman’s final resting place for Sunday. According to IOL, the family announced yesterday that Bosman’s memorial service would be held at the iconic Soweto Theatre, in Jabulani, Soweto, on Friday, March 17, at 3 pm.
