Parliament Faces Scrutiny for Substantial Xoleli George Salary Hike

Parliament is facing scrutiny over a nearly 70% salary hike for its secretary, Xolile George, who has held the role for one year.

The NCOP secretly approved this increase, raising his annual pay to R4.4 million, surpassing the President’s salary.

While political parties criticise the move, Parliament justifies it, citing a comprehensive evaluation process conducted by a remuneration consultancy firm to align with industry standards.

The Democratic Alliance calls for an inquiry, alleging a lack of transparency and misleading information provided by Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula.
