Manhunt Initiated for Suspect Accused of Setting Girlfriend and Friend on Fire

Police are hunting for a man who set alight his girlfriend and her friend. Per IOL, the shocking attack occurred in Florida, in the West Rand area, over the weekend. According to Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, a case of arson and attempted murder has been opened in connection with the incident. “The suspect who is reported to be one of the victims’ boyfriend is still at large,” Nevhuhulwi stated.

The victims are Marishka David, 30, and Zakkiyah Raymond, 38. Marishka’s mother, Mandy, recounted the terrifying event, stating that Raymond succumbed to her injuries in hospital on Sunday. She described how the attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning while the girls were asleep. “While they were sleeping, he threw them with petrol and set them alight,” Mandy disclosed.

Marishka remains hospitalised with burns covering her entire body.
