The City of Tshwane also advised of another planned shutdown to replace and upgrade the bulk meter supplying the Erasmia and Valhalla Reservoirs. That work is scheduled for Thursday, 29 June 2023 from 09:00 until 21:00 and may affect a number of surrounding suburbs named by the municipality.

What the City says and what residents reported

The City of Tshwane said the reservoirs involved will be filled to maximum capacity prior to the shutdown, but warned that interruptions could still occur. The municipality added:

“The City of Tshwane apologises for the inconvenience that may be encountered because of the above-mentioned water supply shutdowns.”

On the City’s media release page, several residents later commented that some areas experienced prolonged interruptions after planned shutdowns and requested updates and assistance.

How residents can prepare

The City’s notice underscores the potential for temporary interruptions to supply during meter replacement works. Residents in the named areas should expect short disruptions during the scheduled windows and take basic precautions such as storing potable water before the shutdown and monitoring official City of Tshwane communications for updates.

Where to get official updates

For official information the City’s media releases and website are the primary sources of notices about planned shutdowns and service updates.
