Reiger Park SAPS Intensifies Crackdown on Drug and Drunk Driving Offenses

The Crime Prevention Unit of Reiger Park SAPS arrested eight suspects committing various offences between 9-15 April. The spokesperson of the local station, Constable Johannes Msimanga, disclosed the information. Among those detained, it was enough to process four individuals to show on the drug possession charges and four others for the DUI. The traffic police are not only interested in illegal traffic, but they have to be involved in the community with all kinds of security. Msimanga emphasised that they would be working hard to end crime and urged community members with suspicious information to articulate it levelly.

“Drugs seems to be the major source of criminality in this area, thus, we will remain arresting the offenders that associates with this illegitimate behaviour”, stated Msimanga. He did not fail to touch on the felony charges levelled towards the suspects apprehended for concealing drug trafficking, saying that drug dealing, in most cases nowadays, is a cause of theft, robbery, and assault.

Along with the record number of drug-related arrests, Msimanga mentioned a considerable advancement in fighting drunk driving. “Drunk driving poses a severe threat to the safety of both motorists and pedestrians. We will not condone this behaviour and will continue to arrest those who break the law,” he said.

Msimanga has been asserting that community support and members are essential to reporting odd acts or criminal activities. Nevertheless, the document makes it clear that there is no need to panic. “We cannot combat crime alone. We rely on the support and cooperation of the community to help us keep Reiger Park safe,” he concluded.
