According to The Citizen, a 52-year-old male prison warder was arrested by Sasolburg police on Saturday after officers found dagga at the Sasolburg Correctional Centre.

Arrest after complaint at correctional centre

The arrest followed a complaint received by the Sasolburg police on Saturday, 8 August at about 14:00, when officers were called to the correctional centre over an official allegedly in possession of dagga and suspected of dealing in the drug.

Seizure and charges

Police were directed to a man wearing a Correctional Services uniform, who was then detained. The police seized 803 ziplock bags of dagga with an indicated street value of R8 050. The suspect is expected to appear before the Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court soon, facing charges of possession of dagga and dealing in dagga.
