Pretoria West Service Delivery Protest: Area Avoidance Advised

Residents in Pretoria West are staging a service delivery protest. It has resulted in road closures and tyre burning in the area.

While initially scheduled for 11:00, the protest began before 07:00, catching authorities off guard.

The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) reported that the protest affected WF Nkomo Street between Mohiri and Acridian Streets.

A peaceful march organised by the Ephraim Mogale Ward 12 Development Forum was planned to commence at 11:00 from Princess Park.

The march aimed to deliver a memorandum to the Departments of Water and Sanitation and Public Works, with designated stops along Francis Baard Street and Bosman Street.

The affected streets include Francis Baard Street, Bosman Street, Sophie de Bruyn Street, Princess Park Avenue, Kgosi Mampuru Street, and Volkstem Avenue.

TMPD and SAPS personnel monitor the situation and manage traffic disruptions.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes, such as Madiba Street, Nana Sita Street, Pretorius Street, Struben Street, and Eskia Mphahlele Street.
