TMPD arrests 19 undocumented foreign nationals in Centurion raid

The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) arrested 19 undocumented foreign nationals during a by-laws enforcement operation in Raslouw and surrounding areas of Centurion on Monday, July 27. The department said the arrests were part of routine enforcement activities to ensure compliance with immigration and municipal regulations.

Legal basis and processing

According to the TMPD, the arrests were made in accordance with the Immigration Act 13 of 2002. Those detained were taken to the local police station for further processing by the Department of Home Affairs.

Ongoing enforcement and the TMPD message

The operation formed part of what the TMPD described as ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address non-compliance with immigration laws and municipal by-laws within the City of Tshwane. The department said it would continue conducting enforcement operations across the city to uphold compliance with legislation and municipal by-laws.

“The TMPD urges all foreign nationals who reside or wish to visit the City of Tshwane to do so within the confines of the laws of the country and the city by-laws to avoid facing any legal issues,” the TMPD said.

The TMPD reiterated that foreign nationals living in or visiting the metro are expected to comply with South African laws and local regulations.
