Tshwane schedules 24-hour outage for Wonderboom Reservoir upgrade
The City of Tshwane has confirmed a planned 24-hour water interruption for customers supplied from the Wonderboom Reservoir to allow for an infrastructure upgrade.
When the outage will happen
The city says the outage will begin at 7:00 on Thursday, 9 July and end at 7:00 on Friday, 10 July. The work involves the installation of a 600 mm inlet meter at the reservoir.
Areas affected
The interruption will affect a wide area of Tshwane’s northern suburbs. Named areas include:
- Annlin
- Montana
- Sinoville
- Pretoria North
- Wonderboom
- Ninapark
- Pyramid
- Theresapark
- Wolmer
Additional smaller pockets and suburbs listed by the city include Amalinda 643-JR, Doornpoort 295-JR, Grootvlei 272-JR and Rooiwal 270-JR, as well as Bon Accord AH, De Onderstepoort 300-JR, Dorandia, Florauna and others named in the city advisory.
Advice and conservation tips
The city used the alert to urge residents to adopt water-saving measures. Officials asked gardeners to avoid irrigating with hosepipes or sprinklers between 6:00 and 18:00, and asked residents not to wash vehicles with hosepipes or fill swimming pools during this period.
Other measures the city encouraged include reusing grey water for gardens and toilet flushing and installing water-saving devices.
