Joburg Businesses Without Power Due to Unpaid Bills

City Power’s efforts to disconnect services due to non-payment, specifically targeting entities supplied by its Alexandra depot to recover R15 million, face challenges as some entities easily reconnect.

Despite targeting repeat offenders, there’s a need for improved measures to prevent these reconnecting efforts as reported by ENCA.

The utility, along with law enforcement, must enhance strategies to ensure the effectiveness of such operations.

Ongoing switch-off operations will persist as customers dispute cutoffs, emphasising the need for a more robust approach to address non-payment issues.
