On Monday, the City of Joburg tweeted a photo of a rubbish bin with some Kaizer Chiefs fan gear sticking out. The caption read, “Now that we’ve recovered from the weekend that was, remember to throw your litter in the bin.” Again, the Kaizer Chiefs logo was visible. This comes after multiple complaints from residents about the amount of litter left behind by soccer fans after matches.

While many people enjoy watching soccer matches, there is often a big problem afterwards with all the litter left behind. This is not only an eyesore, but it can also be dangerous for the environment and animals. Therefore, the City of Joburg reminds people to be responsible and clean up after themselves so everyone can enjoy the city.

Cities need to remind their residents about environmental responsibility, especially during events where there tends to be a lot of litter, such as soccer matches. If everyone does their part to clean up, it will make a big difference in keeping the city clean and safe for everyone to enjoy.

The next time you go to a soccer match, remember to clean up after yourself and throw your litter in the bin. Let’s all do our part to keep our city clean!
