Allegations and social media account
In a social media post quoted by IOL, Mogorosi alleged the confrontation began after a traffic dispute involving a driver who she said had failed to indicate and encroached on a pedestrian area. She stated that when she tried to raise concern the situation escalated and that multiple people, including the learner, the driver and another family member, were involved in the assault. Mogorosi said she and her colleague were attacked and that threats were made during the confrontation.
Police response and court timetable
Police spokesperson Sergeant Mahlomola Peter Kareli confirmed the arrest and said the suspect is expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on 12 June 2026. The police urged restraint while inquiries continue:
“We strongly plead for calm and space to allow the police investigation to take its natural course,”
and emphasised the service’s position on violence:
“The SAPS views all acts of violence, particularly against the vulnerable, in a serious light and is committed to ensuring that justice is served.”
Investigations ongoing
Authorities confirmed a case has been opened and that investigations are ongoing. Further updates are expected as the matter proceeds through the criminal justice system.
