Learner's License Project in Gauteng

The provincial government has joined forces with Diageo South Africa to launch the Learner’s License Project in Gauteng on October 19, 2023, at the Xavier Junction License and Testing Centre in Johannesburg.

According to the South African Government, this initiative, known as the “Wrong Side of the Road” Learners License Project, focuses on providing financial assistance to young people between the ages of 17-34, covering administrative fees for obtaining learner’s licenses within TISH areas (Townships, Informal Settlements, and Hostels) across Gauteng.

The launch of this project during Transport Month seeks to empower disadvantaged youth and enhance their employability prospects. It serves the significant purpose of instilling a culture of responsible driving from an early age, ultimately contributing to safer road conditions throughout Gauteng.
