Sixty60 Expands to Shoprite Stores Nationwide, Bringing Quick Grocery Delivery to More South Africans

In an exciting development for South African shoppers, Sixty60, the popular quick grocery delivery service, is expanding its reach. Previously available only at Checkers supermarkets and Hyper stores, Sixty60 will now be accessible at selected Shoprite supermarkets across the country. This expansion follows a successful pilot in Gauteng and the Western Cape and marks a significant step in making quick grocery delivery available to more South Africans.
Phased Roll-Out for Excellence and Efficiency
The expansion will be rolled out in phases to ensure that each new location maintains the high standards of excellence and efficiency that Sixty60 is known for. The service is already available at Shoprite Atlantis in the Western Cape and Shoprite Jabulani in Soweto, Gauteng. This month, Shoprite Kleinmond in the Western Cape and Shoprite Kriel in Ga-Nala, Mpumalanga, will join the list of locations offering Sixty60.
Neil Schreuder, the company’s chief of strategy and innovation, emphasized that the expansion targets areas where Sixty60 can have a meaningful impact. “We are committed to bringing the convenience of Sixty60 to more South Africans, ensuring that each new location delivers the same high-quality service our customers have come to expect,” he said.
New E-Commerce Website Launch
In a related announcement, Checkers is launching a new e-commerce website that extends the convenience of Sixty60 to even more shoppers. This new platform allows customers to order products online using a browser, making it accessible to Huawei smartphone users who do not have the same access to mobile apps as Samsung, Apple, and other Android users.
“Huawei is the third most popular mobile phone brand in South Africa. This means 2.6 million potential customers can shop on Sixty60 for the first time,” Checkers stated. The retailer has been beta-testing the new transactional platform through beta.sixty60.co.za over the last few months, optimizing performance and usability before the full rollout.
Features of the New Sixty60 E-Commerce Site
The new Sixty60 e-commerce site offers the same extensive product range and features as the mobile app. Customers can browse, select, and pay for their orders with ease, benefiting from real-time order tracking and grocery delivery. The service includes over 10,000 larger general merchandise products available for same-day delivery within precise sixty-minute time slots.
The experience is seamless across the app and web, with accounts and shopping baskets automatically synced in real-time. This ensures a consistent user journey whether customers shop on desktop, mobile, tablet, or Smart TV.
Enhanced Security and Rewards
Existing Sixty60 mobile app customers can log in to the new e-commerce site by entering their mobile number. New users will find the sign-up process quick and easy, with automatic enrollment in the Checkers Xtra Savings rewards programme. This programme unlocks exclusive deals and premium rewards, offering a personalized shopping experience with added value.
For additional security, Checkers uses a One-Time Password (OTP) system, ensuring customers can safely log in and complete their transactions with peace of mind.
The expansion of Sixty60 to Shoprite stores and the launch of the new e-commerce website represent significant milestones in making quick grocery delivery more accessible to South Africans. With a commitment to excellence, efficiency, and customer satisfaction, Sixty60 continues to revolutionize the way South Africans shop for groceries. As the service grows, more customers will enjoy the convenience and reliability that Sixty60 has become known for.
