Kganya Mokhele was crushed by a bookshelf

The family of two-year-old Kganya Mokhele is heartbroken and dissatisfied with the way Little Ashford Preschool handled their child’s death. According to reports by Briefly SA News Today, the Bedfordview creche only informed them of his accident an hour after a Kganya Mokhele was crushed by a bookshelf, which CCTV footage captured. Kganya’s family also stated that the school tried to deny them access to the CCTV footage.

The little boy’s grandfather, Sipho Radebe, expressed that the school only notified the family an hour after the accident and did not immediately contact the police. The family added that no one from the school accompanied them to the hospital, and it appears that Kganya was already dead when he arrived.

The school initially refused the family access to the CCTV footage, but members of the Economic Freedom Fighters intervened, and the family was eventually allowed to view the footage. The Gauteng Department of Education and the Little Ashford Preschool will investigate the incident to determine if the school took the proper precautions. The family believes the school could have prevented this accident and is seeking answers.
