SA journalist warned kids about country before murder

Published

South African journalist Jeremy Gordin was killed during a burglary at his home in Johannesburg. Police are searching for those responsible and have yet to reveal the cause of death as reported by nzherald.

Gordin’s death highlights the growing security concerns in the country, with estate agents reporting a boom in property sales in the more wealthy suburbs of South Africa.

The journalist had previously written a column urging his two children to leave the country due to ongoing electricity cuts and concerns about misrule by the ruling African National Congress.

Despite this, it is unusual for white people to be murdered in South Africa, according to Gareth Newham, Head of Justice and Violence Prevention at the Institute for Security Studies.
