This episode, which involved the gang-raping of a 14-year-old girl in the school toilet, happened on February 8. The court sent the juveniles to a shelter, ordering the police to file a final report by May 27.

This fact is appalling as it underscores the urgent need to improve security measures to provide safe spaces for South Africa’s students.
