Gautrain services interrupted by power failure

Power failures on Monday morning suspended Gautrain services between the Midrand, Centurion, and Hatfield stations. Jacaranda FM reports that the decision to suspend the services occurred after severe delays. Gautrain spokesperson Kesagee Nayager said the interruptions were due to power failures.

“We are operating a bus service between these stations and we apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused in this regard. We will keep our customers updated with regard to progress.”

Previously, Transport Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga expressed confidence that trains will become the backbone of public transportation. PRASA has opened 31 of its 40 corridors throughout the country.
