SPARK Soweto Claims International Best School Award
SPARK Soweto, an independent kindergarten and primary school in Protea Glen, achieved global recognition as the winner of the 2023 World’s Best School Prize for Community Collaboration. These prestigious education awards, established in 2022 by T4 Education in partnership with Accenture, American Express, and the Lemann Foundation, are among the most distinguished in the world, with this year’s winners collectively receiving a $250,000 prize.

In the same event, the Institution Educativa Municipal Montessori sede San Francisco in Colombia was honoured with the World’s Best School Prize for Environmental Action, while the Riverside School in India secured the World’s Best School Prize for Innovation.
Notably, the Max Rayne Hand in Hand Jerusalem School was awarded the World’s Best School Prize for Overcoming Adversity, and EEMTI Joaquim Bastos Goncalves in Brazil received the World’s Best School Prize for Supporting Healthy Lives. These exceptional institutions were chosen by a panel of expert judges.
Furthermore, a new Community Choice Award was introduced, which was claimed by Escola Municipal Professor Edson Pisani in Brazil. This award recognized the school’s achievement as the public’s favourite among the World’s Best School Prizes finalists. As a result, the school will gain membership to T4 Education’s innovative Best School to Work program, designed to certify schools for their culture and enhance their working environment to attract and retain top-quality educators.
Vikas Pota, the Founder of T4 Education and the World’s Best School Prizes, praised SPARK Soweto and its remarkable contributions to the community. He encouraged educators worldwide to draw inspiration from the school’s achievements and governments to follow the path it has blazed in addressing contemporary challenges.
