Sudanese and Saudi officials are holding pre-negotiation talks in Jeddah to discuss the implementation of a truce and its humanitarian impact.  However, little information has been disclosed about the talks as reported by Jacarandafm.

The UN’s top humanitarian official has also arrived in Jeddah to engage in humanitarian issues, but his role in the process is unclear.

The fighting, which began on April 15, has resulted in numerous truce deals that have failed to take effect, causing a “catastrophic” humanitarian crisis with hundreds dead, thousands wounded, and over 100,000 refugees.

Saudi Arabia has played a significant role in evacuations from Sudan, and King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have pledged $100 million in aid.
